Directioners, are you still breathing?? It's been several hours now since the release of One Direction's "Best Song Ever" music video (#BestVideoEver), and I'm still barely able to process all my incredibly, overwhelmingly positive feelings about it. I can only imagine how the most die-hard 1D Stans are doing right now. If you haven't watched it yet, do yourself a favor, scroll to the bottom, and watch it already. Granted, I am also a fan, but come on, how can you argue that this isn't the science of the Boy Band (which, OK, is more like one-third science, one-third pop magic, and one-third hormones) vacillating at its highest, most unquestionably adorable frequency?
The "Best Song Ever" music video a One Direction masterpiece that will go down in these dudes' history of group iconography in much the same way that "It's Gonna Be Me" does for *NSYNC. LOADED COMPARISON, I KNOW. But y'all, this video is good. And what's one of the biggest parts of why it's so good? THE OUTFITS. *puts hand to ear and looks off in the distance* Hear that? It's a Look By Look. And it's coming your way in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!
JONNY AND HARVEY

Who are these old dudes? If you weren't following along with the daily roll out of tailored "Best Song Ever" trailers, this is where I tell you that all of the boys in One Direction take on alter egos for the vid. These are impressive two-fold, one because they give the guys a chance to show off their acting chops (which are actually pretty good, especially Harry, but we'll get to him later), and two because the wardrobe and makeup departments NAILED IT. Here, we see Louis and Niall as "Jonny" and "Harvey" the "Execs." It should be noted that, while these tonsorial looks aren't exactly up to 1D standards, the attention to detail (namely Louis' chest and arm hair) is really noteworthy.
1D BUSINESS MEETING STEEZ

Jonny and Harvey bring the real One Direction guys into their office to discuss their new movie, 1D: This Is Us. Apparently, when these guys have business meetings, they still semi-coordinate with various shades of denim and a common note of white, usually via shirt. P.S. Peep the graffiti sleeve on Malik! Very nice, but also foreshadowing. (I'll explain later.)
MARCEL AND LEEROY

Then, we have "Marcel" the "Marketing Guy" and "Leeroy" the "Choreographer," played by Harry and Liam respectively. Also, not that we're known for being authorities on acting critique, but Styles and Payne do a pretty fantastic job here. Harry pulls off side-parted hair, taped up glasses, a buttoned sweater vest and brown color palette juuuuust as well as he does that nerdy accent and idea presentation. And Liam, well, the superb dance adlibbing is only made THAT much better by this outrageous all pink everything getup.
1 DEGREE

Along with introducing Leeroy because "dance moves are HOT," Marcel also presents the group with possible styling routes they could go down for the movie. This one, with its white tanks tops, lounge pants, and hats (is that a visor on Zayn??), reminds us a LOT of vintage 98 Degrees. Refer back to these classic looks and tell us you don't agree.
BOY BIKER GANG

He also offered up this group of 100% leather ensembles which incidentally don't include shirts. Just fringed jackets and chaps and sparkly briefs. Marcel also that this one "tested really well." Aww, poor guy, just trying to do his job!
5 JUSTIN BIEBERS?

Iiiis it just us or does this just look like a group of 5 Justin Biebers circa his "Never Say Never" tour?

We all know the reference here: The Village People. We know they'd never sign off on this for the movie, but selfishly, we kind of hope that at some point they do give this look a shot.

OH, RIGHT. ZAYN'S ALTER EGO IS THE "SEXY SECRETARY" IN CASE YOU STILL DIDN'T WATCH IT YET. OMG, how is he still kind of a pretty lady? Also, of COURSE even Lady Zayn has luxurious hair.

I mentioned before that Zayn's denim jacket has tagged up sleeves. I dubbed it wardrobe "foreshadowing" because at the end of the movie, after the guys have rolled out their preferred poster for the movie—above, with their usual color-coordinated IRL outfits—Malik takes a spray can to it, scrawling "THiS iS US" across the bottom.
